Boutique Hotel
High quality accommodation
Senglea Suites opened in 2022, the result of three years of careful and loving restoration. We wanted to honour every original feature of this beautiful historic building, while ensuring our guests enjoy all the comforts of a modern stay. With just six bedrooms, we are able to offer something that larger hotels simply cannot — our full and personal attention. Every guest matters deeply to us, and we take great pride in the friendships that have grown from so many of those stays. Many of our guests return time and again, and that, for us, is the greatest compliment of all. We look forward to welcoming you to the Three Cities very soon.
Each of our six suites is entirely unique . Choosing your favourite may prove difficult, but we promise that whichever room you stay in, every detail has been thoughtfully considered. All suites include modern conveniences, air conditioning/underfloor heating, complementary Nespresso, tea and water, fridge, kettle and even wine glasses…
Nestled in the oldest part of our hotel, a building with over 500 years of history. Traditional stone arches, a generously sized bathroom with a unique shower, and private access to our inner courtyard with a quiet sitting area make this an exceptional place to call home.
A beautifully spacious room on the first floor, Galariji invites you to step out onto not one, but two balconies. Inside, original wood beams and stone walls are complemented by local artwork and handpicked furniture, while the oversized Italian-style shower adds a touch of luxury.
Aħdar is a charming first-floor suite with its own sitting area and an internal balcony that looks out over our peaceful inner courtyard. The bathroom is both elegant and indulgent, fitted with a walk-in shower and a beautiful freestanding bathtub.
True to its name, the Sala Nobile is one of our most distinguished suites. Set on the second floor, it features a sweeping balcony, soaring ceilings with original beams, and a large Italian shower. A room that feels as grand as its surroundings.
Ħadid is a wonderfully light-filled room on the second floor, with a south-facing window that frames views of the marina. A spacious bathroom with a shower and a charming Juliet balcony overlooking the inner courtyard completes this beautifully thought-out space.
Our smallest suite, but don’t let that fool you. Veduta is consistently one of our guests’ favourites. Situated on the third floor, its window frames a lovely view over the marina, filling the room with natural light and a sense of calm. It also sits on the same level as one of our terraces.
All bedrooms can be equipped with a large double bed or two single beds upon request.
One of the first things our guests tell us when they step onto the rooftop is simply “wow.” We completely understand. The views across the Three Cities, out over Isla, Bormla and Birgu, and onward to Valletta and the blue Mediterranean beyond, are truly something to behold. We love that our guests make it their own throughout the day. Start your morning with breakfast under the open sky, spend a lazy afternoon soaking up the Maltese sun, or settle in for the evening with a drink in hand as the colours change over the harbour. The rooftop has a way of slowing things down, and we think that is exactly what a relaxing holiday should do. And if you happen to be with us during festa season, there is simply no better spot to watch the very local Regatta race or the spectacular village fireworks light up the night sky across.
Our outdoor terrace is one of those spaces that guests always seem to find their way back to. Whether you are starting the day with a morning coffee and breakfast in the fresh air, losing yourself in a good book on the sofa, or simply stretching out on a sunbed and letting the Maltese sunshine do its thing, it is a space designed for doing exactly as little or as much as you please. Some guests do bring their laptops out here, and we completely understand the temptation. That said, we will quietly encourage you to leave work back at the office. You are on holiday, after all, and the terrace has a way of reminding you of that.
There are so many reasons our guests choose to stay with us in Senglea and the Three Cities, and we love sharing them. From the rich history and authentic Maltese way of life, to the stunning location and proximity to the sea, we truly believe there is no better place to experience the real Malta. Come and see for yourself.
If you are a lover of good food, you are in for a treat. Authentic Maltese cuisine is quite literally on your doorstep here in the Three Cities. From freshly prepared gbejna cheese, limpki and seafood, to the beloved fenek, rabbit prepared in the traditional Maltese way, there is something to delight every palate. You will also find a wonderful variety of Italian, Greek, French, English and even Egyptian cuisine to choose from. And no visit would be complete without trying a Kinnie, the local soft drink, a glass of Maltese wine, or the famous Cisk beer. Finish the evening with a prickly pear digestif and you will have had a truly Maltese night out.
Senglea Suites sits within a living, breathing Maltese neighbourhood. The people who live here have grown up on these streets and carry the stories of this place with them. If you ask, they will gladly share them. We feel very fortunate to be part of this community and to offer our guests a genuine connection to local life. From the colour and spectacle of the annual festas, with their traditional costumes and processions, to the excitement of the regatta boat races and the International Fireworks Festival in the Grand Harbour, there is always something wonderful happening close by.
Away from the busier tourist areas of Sliema and St Julian’s, the Three Cities offer something far more genuine. Classified as an Urban Conservation Area, development here is carefully managed, ensuring that the heritage and character of this extraordinary place is preserved for generations to come. The narrow streets, the ancient fortifications and the working waterfront all tell a story that no modern resort could ever replicate. Staying here means waking up to the real Malta, every single day, and we would not have it any other way.
The Three Cities are steeped in history that stretches back thousands of years. From the remains of some of the oldest temples in the world, to the legacy of the brave Knights of Malta and the stories of the Great Siege, every corner holds a piece of Malta’s remarkable past. Senglea and the Three Cities played a vital role in some of the most significant moments in Maltese history, sitting at one of the most strategically important locations on the island. Walking these ancient streets, you simply cannot help but feel the weight and wonder of it all.
We love Valletta, we really do. There is nowhere quite like it. But we also appreciate coming home to the peace and quiet of Senglea at the end of the day. The good news is that getting to the capital could not be easier. You can hop aboard a traditional water taxi, the dghajsa tal-pass, and glide across the harbour in minutes, or take a short five minute ferry ride directly to the heart of Valletta. Whether you are planning to visit St John’s Co-Cathedral, explore the Grandmaster’s Palace, or simply wander the streets and discover the many wonderful bars and restaurants, you will always be just 20 minutes away from home.
Some say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We are not sure we can settle that debate, but what we do know is that it is one of our favourite parts of the morning. It is when we get to sit down with you, hear about your plans, share a few tips, and simply enjoy a good conversation over a proper spread. We offer a generous buffet breakfast, served in our breakfast room or, when the Maltese weather obliges, out on the terrace or rooftop. More than a few guests have told us it is the highlight of their stay, and that always makes us very happy indeed.
